WOT promotes Wyoming tourism “Down Under” |
Wyoming and the Great American West (GAW) states of South Dakota, Idaho and North Dakota conducted a week-long sales mission across Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney to promote travel to the region. Through in-office trainings and workshops with key trade and media contacts, including major partners like Flight Centre and Helloworld, the mission generated 70 qualified leads. Despite a weaker Australian dollar (AUD) to US dollar (USD) exchange rate potentially dampening overall U.S. bookings for 2025, interest is rising in lesser-known regions like the GAW states, which are viewed as offering strong experiential value. Travelers, often multi-generational families, couples and solo adventurers are drawn to themes like road trips, set jetting (film locations), cowboy culture, noctourism (night skies) and milestone events. Bookings are typically made 11 months in advance for trips lasting 17-28 days. Australian agencies are expanding their teams and product offerings, highlighting opportunities for GAW to grow through continued trade education, stronger supplier engagement and demand for escorted fam tours with at least six months’ lead time.
